Chasing the 4 of Clubs

Support the Clay County Fair with the Chasing the 4 of Clubs Fundraiser. It’s a progressive 50/50 drawing chasing the 4 of Clubs. Tickets are sold at the Clay County Fair office daily and at select locations on Wednesdays. Two winners will be drawn each Wednesday at approximately 7:45 pm.  Two weekly winners will receive a $50 gift certificate to the host location and have a chance of drawing the 4 of Clubs at the Grand Finale and winning half of the total event pot. 12th Annual Charity Poker Run

Join Stringers Bar & Grill for the 12th Annual Charity Poker Run to benefit the Yankton Sack Pack program on Saturday, July 20th. Registration starts at 11am with kickstands up at noon. All vehicles are welcome. Entry fee is $25 for this 5 stops & 200 mile poker run. Enjoy a 50/50 raffle and auction after the poker run starting at 7pm.

Kids Summer Series

Ride on down to the Yankton Community Library on Monday, July 22nd at 5:30pm for another Kids Summer Series Event. A family bike ride is planned to take place starting at the Library and travel down to Riverside Park. At 6pm, Omaha Street Percussion will perform at the Riverside Park Amphitheatre, providing a full filled, high energy, family concert for all ages. This event is free & open to the public. The kids summer series is sponsored by the Yankton Community Library and the Parks & Recreation Department.

Southeast Ag Tour

The VCDC is partnering with the South Dakota Farm Bureau for the the Southeast Ag Tour on July 23rd. The event will feature a tour of two family-owned farms to help bridge the gap between life in South Dakota’s towns and life on its farms.

The first tour (beginning at 2 p.m.) will be of Fleurish Flower Farm at 47663 SD Hwy 50 in Elk Point, SD, and will showcase Christy and Chad Heckathorn’s flower farm and seed dealership operations. The second tour (beginning at 4 p.m.) will be of Christensen Farm at 29886 470th Avenue, Beresford SD, and will showcase a family feed lot and farming operations. The tour at Christensen Farm will be followed by a beef meal.

The event is free and open to everyone, no registration or advance notice required.

July Bragging Rights

Bragging Rights On Thursday Nights is back on July 25th! Support the community and non profits with your love of cars! Bring your classic car, motorcycle, or anything you have! Each month, a different non profit organization will be serving the meal for a free will donation. Bring your lawn chairs, come out for food, friends, music wile supporting the community! Bragging Rights is located behind Missouri River Associates, 124 Walnut St. in Yankton.

Crofton’s Dam Race

Runners, bikers and kayakers have discovered a new kind of race along the shores of Lewis & Clark Lake. It’s Crofton’s Dam Race on Saturday, July 27th. Choose your adventure between three events: a sprint triathlon with kayaking instead of swimming, a half marathon or 12-mile bike race. New this year is an e-bike option. Participants must be at least 14 years old. Join in the fun afterwards at Crofton’s Haymarket for awards & BBQ celebration.

SD Chislic Festival

It’s the 6th annual South Dakota Chislic Festival on Saturday, July 27th in Freeman. Enjoy a ‘Chislic Day’ filled with food, beverages and entertainment for all ages. Rock ‘N’ Rumble

Head to the Meridian District in Yankton for the 9th annual Rock-n-Rumble Motorcycle Rally on Saturday, July 27th. Enjoy the motorcycle parade, poker run, food vendors, and live music with Seriously Shirly & Mean Streak. Events and activities run all day Saturday. Rock ‘N’ Rumble 2024 charity organization is Bridging Yankton. Half of the money raised through the sponsorships will go to the charity. 

Kids Summer Series

Join the Yankton Community Library and the Yankton Parks & Recreation Department for the final Kids Summer Series Event on Monday, July 29th. Real Reptiles will have a show at the Riverside Park amphitheatre at 5:30pm. Enjoy twice the foam fun with 2 foam canons filling up the park from 6:30-7:30pm. Plus, enjoy music, games, & food! This event is free & open to the public.

Plainview Fireman’s Dance

Join the Plainview Fire & Rescue Department for the 120th Annual Fireman’s Dance on Friday, August 2nd. SwitchBak! This year, the dance will be held outside the firehall from 8:00 PM- midnight featuring SwitchBak! Admission to the dance is $10. In addition to the dance, there will be a freewill offering meal of pulled pork sandwiches, chips and bars starting at 5:30pm until gone. You do not need to attend to the dance to come eat.
